How it works

Professional-strength whitening, carefully controlled.

Philips Zoom uses professional whitening gel activated by a light. Your clinician controls the treatment, protects your gums and soft tissues, and monitors your comfort throughout the appointment.

It is designed to achieve a more noticeable change in one visit than over-the-counter whitening products, with results varying between patients.

What to expect

Your appointment, step by step.

Before

Check suitability

We assess your teeth, gums, existing dental work, sensitivity and goals. If anything needs attention first, we will explain it before whitening proceeds.

During

Protect and whiten

Your gums and lips are protected before the gel is applied. Treatment is delivered in carefully monitored cycles with the Zoom light.

After

Support your result

You receive personalised aftercare and sensitivity advice, including guidance about avoiding strongly coloured food and drinks for the first 24–48 hours.

Results, honestly

Results of 2 shades or more—with individual variation.

Results of 2 shades or more may be achieved. The degree of whitening depends on your starting shade, the cause of discolouration, tooth structure and individual response. Our friendly clinician will explain what may be realistically achievable before you commit.

Crowns, veneers and fillings do not whiten. If you have restorations at the front of your smile, we will discuss how they may affect the overall result.

How long whitening lasts varies with diet, oral hygiene, smoking and maintenance.

Comfort and sensitivity

Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?

Temporary sensitivity can occur during or after whitening and commonly settles. Your clinician monitors your comfort and provides personalised sensitivity support.

If your teeth are already sensitive, let us know when you book so this can be considered during your consultation and treatment planning.

Compare your options

In-chair or take-home?

In-chair whitening

A more concentrated treatment completed in one supervised appointment. It may suit you if you want a faster result or prefer treatment to be managed for you.

Take-home whitening

Custom-fitted trays and professional gel used gradually at home. It is a slower approach that can be easier to fit around your schedule and maintain later.

Not sure which option suits you? Call our team and we’ll talk it through.

Who it may suit

Start with a free consultation.

Whitening may be suitable for adults with healthy teeth and gums. It may not be appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is significant decay, active gum disease, sensitivity or extensive restorations at the front of the smile.

A consultation allows us to assess your individual circumstances. If whitening is not suitable, we will explain why and discuss appropriate alternatives.
